The #CaptionsON Literacy Campaign
- part two of a Mother-Son Literacy Legacy Strong reading skills lead to wearing many "Success Hats" in school, jobs, and life. Love of reading helps create impact, empathy and success worldwide because the ability to read connects the world and is 100% inclusive.
Yet screen time is robbing most children of the love of and proficiency in reading. We need to bridge the divide between literacy and screen time. Closed Captions are free, easy to use, and built-in and are also known as SUBTITLES, especially in the UK, India, Mexico, Australia, and other countries. Check our Video Tutorials for TV/streaming channels. To create a positive impact, we need to use empathy and realize that addictive screen time is here to stay and work around that fact by getting kids to read along with captions/subtitles when they watch TV, stream video, or play games online. The Buckle Up Seatbelt Campaign saved millions of lives and began by educating the public through Public Service Announcements via endorsement of A-List celebrities who gave their support to join the cause and shift national mindset – one heart and mind at a time. |

"The "Caption Thing" was always at the back of my mind as we lived more than ever in a digital world with laptops, cell phones, and tablets all a major part of life. I was always captivated by a national campaign's power to shift mindset in America – take the Buckle Up seatbelt campaign, and how ultimately, it saved thousands, if not millions, of lives since its inception. The Recycling and Designated Driver campaigns also had the same positive impact on society and our planet." - Leib Lurie |

Captions ON + Subtitles ON = Success ONAlthough they seem the same and are often interchanged, there is one significant TECHNICAL distinction between CAPTIONS and SUBTITLES.
Captions are a transcription of dialogue and descriptive terms of sound heard on-screen (i.e., music, thunder, etc.). Subtitles are a translation of the dialogue without the descriptors.
