The #CaptionsON Literacy Campaign
Strong reading skills lead to wearing many "Success Hats" in school, jobs, and life. Love of reading helps create impact, empathy and success worldwide because the ability to read connects the world and is 100% inclusive.
Yet screen time is robbing most children of the love of and proficiency in reading. We need to bridge the divide between literacy and screen time. Closed Captions are free, easy to use, and built-in and are also known as SUBTITLES, especially in the UK, India, Mexico, Australia, and other countries. Check our Video Tutorials for TV/streaming channels. To create a positive impact, we need to use empathy and realize that addictive screen time is here to stay and work around that fact by getting kids to read along with captions/subtitles when they watch TV, stream video, or play games online. |

The Buckle Up Seatbelt Campaign saved millions of lives and began by educating the public through Public Service Announcements via endorsement of A-List celebrities who gave their support to join the cause and shift national mindset – one heart and mind at a time.
Our vision is to emulate this strategy. We need Literacy Champs who love reading, writing, words, and their power to help us spread the word and share their literacy "Success Hat" stories and support our #CaptionsON mission. Tall order? Yes. But, GAME ON. We begin by celebrating the work of 444 Authors as we respectfully ASK for their help to Make Screen Time READING Time.

Captions ON + Subtitles ON = Success ONAlthough they seem the same and are often interchanged, there is one significant TECHNICAL distinction between CAPTIONS and SUBTITLES.
Captions are a transcription of dialogue and descriptive terms of sound heard on-screen (i.e., music, thunder, etc.). Subtitles are a translation of the dialogue without the descriptors. Captions and subtitles both appear as text on the bottom of your screen, and when kids read along, no matter what country they are in, reading improves, and kids Click! Success ON We are currently exploring partnerships in other countries to Click! #SuccessON! and join forces globally to Make Screen Time READING Time ®. |
